5Well organised trip ...
Well organised trip The tour company were quick to respond to questions when contacted A bit more information on the tour advert would be useful
5Great experience!
Perfect trip, Etna was awesome! We went to North, so no cable car but jeep drive was great, like driving in moon. You absolutely need to go up, there's not quite much to do if waiting for hours in 1900m. I'd say upgrade your trip to 2900m or don't go at all. 2900m was worth the money! Sitting in bus and in jeep wasn't too much, we stopped three times with jeep and walked few minutes to craters, guide telling good information. Extra thanks for SAT group travel: we had accidently booked trip for Saturday when we meant Sunday. On Sat morning they called us and asked where we are. Omg! We couldn't get to bus station in five minutes, because we had just woke up. SAT said that they can reschedule our trip to Monday with no extra charge. We are so SO thankful! 😍
5Wonderful experience
It is definitely chilly at the top. Trousers, jacket, and closed toe shoes are a must. It’s not so much cold as it was windy causing a chill. Lots of uneven surfaces with sloppy loss pebbles.
5Mount Etna - Top of the World
One of the best experiences ever. Our Guide was so enthusiastic and fun. You could tell he loved what he did. Recommend this to everyone but take the trip up to the crators. I will never forget this experience. We loved it.
2You DON’T get what you pay for!
I purchased the experience to include the cable car ride and the Jeep ride to the top of Mt Etna. Once on the bus, the tour Director never mentioned the cable car ride. When I inquired, she said the decision was made to go to the other side of Aetna and not include the cable ride. Since we purchased the cable car ride we were very much looking forward and were disappointed. I reached out to Viator and after two reviews, they feel satisfied that they took me up on the bus to meet the Jeep. I never received any notification that the cable car portion was not going to happen. So with Viator, you DON’T get what you pay for and you don’t get any kind of reimbursement when they remove portions of your tour without notification. The local tour representatives were very good. Book your tour directly with the operator.
1Travel too expensive
Destination change from Etna South to Etna North right after the free cancellation has expired. Reason "long queues". The advert didn't match the reality which was just a travel with a bus with a guide telling stories and leading to a destination not that impressive. Just a parking really with no view, no caves as per the advert and no hot lava. Don't get me wrong, I would recommend visiting the place, but I would avoid paying this company all these money to bring you there. Better hire a car and travel on your own terms.
Taormina is a hilltop town on Sicily's east coast, with an ancient Greek theatre facing Mount Etna, a main street of palazzi and sea views over the Ionian.
Taormina clings to the slopes of Monte Tauro, about 200 metres above the Ionian Sea, with Mount Etna smoking to the south-west. Its ancient theatre, begun by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC and later rebuilt by the Romans, still hosts concerts and performances, and from the upper rows Etna and the coast fill the view. The main street, Corso Umberto, runs between two town gates, past churches, palazzi and small shops, to Piazza IX Aprile, a terrace over the sea.
Top-ranked sights in Taormina: Isola Bella, Corso Umberto I, Taormina Piazza Duomo.
