Rute

  1. Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua, known as the Three Cities of Malta, are pieces of living history kept alive by hundreds of years of preservation, and the occasional miracle. The fortified cities sit like a trio of villages in the heart of Malta's historic centre, directly across the Grand Harbour from Valletta.

    30 min

  2. Marsaxlokk is especially known for the many luzzus in its harbour. In the background can be seen the parish church of Marsaxlokk dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary - The Madonna of Pompeii. Traditional luzzi and other larger and more modern vessels line the sheltered inner harbour.

    30 min

  3. Malta’s oldest prehistoric site of Għar Dalam engages visitors to take a journey to a time before human habitation, when animals such as elephants, hippopotami, and red deer roamed the pristine wilderness of the Ice Age.

    30 min

  4. Quite of a natural wonder, the splendid Blue Grotto is a network of six caves, boasting the most stunning views and clearest waters the Maltese Islands have to offer. Idyllically situated on the Southern coast, this is one of Malta's most popular natural attractions.

    30 min

  5. Ħaġar Qim is an ancient megalithic temple complex in Malta, dating from 3600–3200 BC, known for its impressive size, religious and astronomical alignments, and unique architecture using massive limestone blocks. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it features a main temple with interconnected chambers and a separate smaller structure, and is notable for a solstice alignment that highlights a central stone. Although its exact purpose isn't known, scholars suggest it was a sacred site for rituals and sun worship, as evidenced by findings like altars and fertility-related statuettes.

    45 min

  6. Located on Malta's western coast, at 253 metres above sea-level the Dingli Cliffs are the highest part of the Island. The cliffs became a popular attraction for tourists visiting Malta, heading there for a peaceful walk with boasting views of Filfa and the Mediterranean sea.

    15 min

  7. Situated in the southern part of Mdina, the charming city of Rabat (Malta) has a network of star-shaped streets and lovely buildings with traditional wooden ‘Gallarija’ balconies. The city, which is transformed from morning to evening when the tourists return to their destinations, has many attractions. It has catacombs, churches and Roman mosaics. It also has a well-deserved gastronomic reputation, with cafés and restaurants serving the best Maltese cuisine. A must when visiting Malta is to see the mosaics at the Domus Romana, a large villa dating back to the 1st century BC which, during the Arab period in the 11th century, was covered by a Muslim cemetery. Another must is to visit Saint Paul’s Catacombs, dating from the 3rd century BC, which were used for burials for 500 years. You should also visit Saint Agatha’s Catacombs.

  8. Mdina is a fortified medieval town enclosed in bastions, located on a large hill in the centre of Malta. The town was the old capital of Malta, and with its narrow streets, few inhabitants and beatuful views over the Island it is truly a magical town.

About Valletta

Valletta is Malta's tiny walled capital on a rocky peninsula, built by the Knights of St John with baroque palaces, a deep harbour and a Caravaggio.

Valletta was founded in 1566 by the Order of St John, a year after the Great Siege of Malta, and laid out on a grid of streets on a narrow peninsula between two harbours. The whole city is a World Heritage site. St John's Co-Cathedral looks plain outside but is gilded within, and holds Caravaggio's Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. The Grand Master's Palace and the Upper Barrakka Gardens look over Grand Harbour.

Top-ranked sights in Valletta: Upper Barrakka Gardens, St. John's Co-Cathedral (Kon-Katidral ta' San Gwann), Grand Master's Palace.
