5Loved it.
Great experience. Fun. It was longer than expected.
3A good way to learn about the city
We did the Newcastle tour about a week after the York one and found that it wasn't nearly as good as York. We found a couple of the clues and directions to be rather misleading and had to rely on the hints far more than in York. It is a good way to see a small part of the city, however, and was still enjoyable. In general, we found the city to be a bit run down and scruffy with lots of litter everywhere so this also detracted from our enjoyment of the treasure hunt - although clearly this is not the fault of the Treasure Hunt organisers! I think maybe it would be good for Lindle to revisit this tour and check some of the clues.
5An enjoyable riddle-based treasure hunt
My wife booked a treasure hunt in Newcastle, and I recommend it. We were sent an email and clicked on a start button in the message, which triggered a series of text messages. It was a fun mixture of riddles to solve, and information about some of the sights in central Newcastle. It took us about 2-2.5 hours to do (with 1 short beer stop, and choosing to do the bonus clues). The email tells you to turn off Wifi and it is important that you do so - we initially forgot, and it worked better once we did it.
5Great activity in Newcastle.
This was a really fabulous way to spend an afternoon. Learned a lot about Newcastle and saw many new things. Highly recommend this very well thought out activity.
5Booked for a corporate event.
I booked Treasure Hunt Tours for a corporate team event and it was a huge success. From start to finish, everything was really well organised, with clear communication. The activity itself was great fun and genuinely engaging for everyone. It struck the perfect balance between problem‑solving, teamwork and getting out and about, and our teams were fully involved from the start. There was lots of laughter and friendly competition, and people were still talking about it long afterwards. As a corporate event, it worked brilliantly — relaxed but well run, easy for everyone to take part in, and a really nice way to bring people together outside the usual work setting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Treasure Hunt Tours to anyone looking for a memorable and well‑executed team event.
2Very disappointed. Waste of money. Got refund
Some clues flat out were wrong (sign at Blackfriars have clearly been updated). We found this to be very slow paced, frustrating and not worth a tenner never mind thirty quid. We abandoned it in frustration after 30 minutes. We are regular escape room goers and puzzle solvers but this was built around flawed logic at times and clues that had us walking around side streets wondering what we'd signed up for . Even with hints and answers provide some of the puzzles made no sense (the dog for example was not on any of the four display signs and Blackfriars). Anyway, I guess you might like this if you have the patience of a saint and low bar for what constitutes entertainment and value.

About Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Newcastle upon Tyne is a river city in north-east England, with a Norman castle keep, a row of bridges over the Tyne and a revived quayside.
Newcastle grew around a Roman bridge crossing and takes its name from the castle begun here in 1080 by Robert Curthose, son of William the Conqueror. The stone keep still stands above the railway, beside the Black Gate. The Tyne is crossed by the Swing Bridge, the High Level Bridge and the steel arch of the Tyne Bridge, and Grainger Town has classical streets of the 1830s with Grey's Monument at their heart.
