• 5Exactly What We Wanted

  This was exactly the excursion that we wanted off the cruise ship. Super easy meeting spot and pick up to take us to Pisa. We had enough time for a sit-down lunch in town, to visit the baptistry and cathedral, and to view the leaning tower from the outside. It gave us time still in port at La Spezia to enjoy as well.

• 1Glorified taxi and not much more

  This was a glorified taxi to Pisa and nothing more. I booked more than seven different via tour trips for the 10 day vacation and this is the only one for the travel agency would not reply to any of my messages ahead of time. They were asked where are we meeting? When are we meeting? How’s the weather looking like? What are our expectations for the day and nothing? When we got here, it was a check-in and waited for half an hour or you were even allowed to get on a bus. They set a 9:15 show time with a 9:45 bus pickup. It was a bus ride to Pisa with no historical explanation of anything. We met back up with a Tour Guide three hours after arriving and took a bus ride back and again nothing. Tour Guide tried to say she was only 60% healthy and was sick the entire ride and that was it and still asking for tip at the end. Great trip to Pisa, but I’m expecting anything more than a taxi ride in an air conditioned bus full of 40 people.save your $ and just take a taxi.

• 4Could use some improvement, but over all a very good day.

  Meet up was a bit confusing. Many groups were inside the cruise terminal at the address, but this company was outside. There were several employees in green shirts and we got passed around from one to the other. That said they offered us a trip with the addition of the midevil town of Luca which was lovely. The guide did not provide a tour per se, he led us to places in Luca to take pictures but did not provide information. He did have a rubber chicken on a stick to follow which was entertaining.

• 5A Great Tour But Wish We Had More Time To Enjoy Pisa.

  Viator gave clear instructions as to where to meet up for the tour. They sent e-mail reminders, too. Our guide Marti was very informative, giving us wonderful commentary about the local area as we travelled to our destination. Our time-slot for entry to the Tower of Pisa was perfect. There was just time to do a little bit of sightseeing but as we had to be back on the coach within three hours and the walk to and from the coach took around 20 minutes there was no time to stop for lunch or shop for souvenirs. We managed to grab a coffee but it was all a bit of a rush. With hindsight I would book a longer trip. Otherwise, it all went to plan.

  A very well organised tour. It was totally as described and the tour company guides were clearly identified at the cruise terminal. Our guide was very informative and interesting but did not overdo thr level of information. The green flag on the long pole was perfect for picking her out in the clouds at Pisa

About La Spezia

La Spezia is a Ligurian port on the Gulf of Poets, with a naval harbour, museums and the main rail gateway to the Cinque Terre villages and Portovenere.

La Spezia lies at the head of a deep gulf on the Ligurian coast, ringed by hills of olive groves and sheltered by a long breakwater. It is an important naval base as well as a commercial port, and a seafront promenade, Passeggiata Morin, runs beside the harbour. The Amedeo Lia Museum holds paintings and medieval works, and the Castello di San Giorgio on a hill above keeps finds from the area.
