Central Osaka: Private Samurai Training with a Sword Master

What sets this experience apart is the opportunity to train privately with a sword master at a historic Shinto shrine in central Osaka, within easy reach of the city’s main sightseeing areas. A quiet indoor room is reserved exclusively for your group with special permission from the shrine, providing a focused setting for your training. Rather than following a fixed beginner lesson, you will receive guidance suited to your experience and interests. Practice stance, footwork, grip, hand control, and breathing while an interpreter-guide helps you ask detailed questions about both technique and the ideas behind kenjutsu. You will also explore the connection between sword etiquette and respect within Shinto culture. The experience concludes with a close-up shinken, or live-blade, demonstration by the sword master—an opportunity to observe the precision, concentration, and control developed through years of practice.
