The buildings have been so well preserved that you can walk down the streets pretty much exactly as the Romans would have done over 2000 years ago! There is still original timber in the buildings and clay pots stored as they would have been at the time of the eruption. Together with your guide, you will visit many of the most important sites, public baths with their well-preserved frescoes and mosaics, shops and the gymnasium. About Sorrento

Sorrento perches on cliffs above the Bay of Naples, a charming lemon-scented town that makes an easy base for Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.

The town's centre is Piazza Tasso, from which narrow lanes run past churches, shops selling limoncello and inlaid woodwork, and the peaceful cloister of San Francesco.
