Skip confusing queues and explore Shilin Night Market like a local! Walk through the historic 200-year-old Cixian Temple under glowing lanterns, then dive into Taipei's most authentic street food classics. We handle all ordering and language barriers so you can enjoy a delicious, stress-free cultural feast!
Originally built in 1796, this temple to Mazu (Goddess of the Sea) was completely burned down during a local clan war in 1859. Rather than giving up, local residents rebuilt the entire district in 1864, placing this temple at its absolute center. Food stalls began gathering around its steps to feed worshippers—sparks that literally created the world-famous Shilin Night Market! You’re standing at the birthplace of Taipei's street food culture!

Taipei is Taiwan's capital, a hill-ringed city of night markets, temples, hot springs, tea houses and the tall Taipei 101 tower.
Taipei sits in a basin ringed by green mountains, and Taipei 101, a 508-metre tower styled on bamboo segments, is its skyline marker. The National Palace Museum holds a vast collection of imperial Chinese art, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall stands at one end of a broad plaza, and Longshan Temple is a busy shrine of incense and carved dragons. Dihua Street preserves old shopfronts selling tea, herbs and dried goods.
Top-ranked sights in Taipei: Shifen Waterfall, Taipei 101, Yehliu Geopark.
