About Florianópolis
Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina, sits mostly on a long island of beaches, lagoons, dunes and old Azorean fishing villages.
Most of the city spreads over Santa Catarina Island, joined to the mainland by bridges, among them the Hercílio Luz suspension bridge, the city's emblem.
