There's an optional visit to Villa San Michele in Anacapri, where you can stroll through the beautiful villa of Dr Munthe and the colourful gardens. Or you could let the chairlift put you on top of the world for a few euros, which takes you to the head-spinning heights of Monte Solaro. This really is paradise found.

About Sorrento

Sorrento perches on cliffs above the Bay of Naples, a charming lemon-scented town that makes an easy base for Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.

The town's centre is Piazza Tasso, from which narrow lanes run past churches, shops selling limoncello and inlaid woodwork, and the peaceful cloister of San Francesco. Steps and lifts lead down the cliffs to Marina Piccola, where the boats leave, and to Marina Grande, a fishing harbour with seafood restaurants right by the water.
