Most cooking classes in Seoul are taught by staff. This one is taught by my mom. I’ve been guiding food tours in Seoul for three years, and the question I get most is where guests can learn to make the food themselves. So I asked the person who taught me: my mother, who has been cooking these dishes for our family her whole life. Together we’ll make kimbap from scratch — rolling, cutting, and getting it wrong a few times first — and marinate and grill bulgogi the way she makes it at home.
