  5. Monоlithos is on the east coast of the island, 2 km north of Kamari, and has the finest sand you will ever find on Santorini. It can hardly be called a village, but there are a few hotels and taverns in the area. The beach is long with dark sand and some trees growing directly on the sand. Part of it is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. It is suitable for children as the water is shallow around the shore. You will also find a playground and changing cabins on the beach.

About Santorini

Santorini is a crescent of volcanic cliffs in the Aegean, where whitewashed villages and blue domes look over a flooded caldera to famous sunsets.

The island is the rim of an ancient volcano whose eruption left a vast caldera filled by the sea. On its edge, Fira, the main town, and the clifftop villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani cling to the slopes, while Oia, at the northern tip, is celebrated for its sunset views over windmills and whitewashed houses.
