Lake Bracciano is a round volcanic crater lake north-west of Rome, with clear water for swimming and sailing and medieval towns on its shores.

Lake Bracciano fills an ancient volcanic crater about thirty kilometres north-west of Rome, a rounded lake with low wooded hills around it. It has long been a drinking-water reserve for Rome, so motor boats are banned and the water stays unusually clear.
