About Medan
Medan is the largest city on Sumatra, a trading hub with a sultan's palace, a grand mosque, Chinese mansions and the road to Lake Toba and Bukit Lawang.
Medan is the capital of North Sumatra and the biggest city on the island, a trading centre that grew rich in the late 19th century on tobacco and rubber plantations.
