Le Morne Brabant is a peninsula at the extreme southwestern tip of the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius on the windward side of the island. It is highlighted by an eponymous basaltic monolith with a summit 556 metres above sea level. Known as one of the most iconic hikes on the island with spectacular views of southwestern corner of the island, this is a must! This is the perfect activity for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO since July 6, 2008, the site is a sanctuary for runaway slaves and is a strong cultural and patrimonial symbol for every Mauritian. The mountain is home to a multitude of endemic species, such as the rare Trochetia Boutonania, and its red flaming flower.

About Port Louis

Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius, a working harbour city with a big central market, a hilltop citadel and a waterfront of shops and cafés.

Port Louis lies on the north-west coast of Mauritius, at the foot of a ring of volcanic peaks. Founded in the 1730s by the French governor Mahé de La Bourdonnais, it is a mix of colonial buildings, mosques, temples and glass towers. The Central Market sells spices, fruit, vanilla and tea, and the Caudan Waterfront has shops, cafés and the Blue Penny Museum, which holds the island's rare early stamps.
