أبرز ما فيها

At the top of Northeast Donegal is Inishowen, Ireland's largest peninsula. On this Wild Atlantic Way tour, I'll show you around part of the peninsula's 100-mile coastal drive known as the 'Inishowen 100'. On your journey, you'll see the glacial fjord, Lough Swilly, which inspired the hymn 'Amazing Grace'. You'll learn the ancient secrets of Grianan of Aileach ring fort, seat of power of the chieftains of Ulster. I'll recount the tragedy of the SS Laurentic and its undiscovered gold near Fort Dunree. You'll travel through the nerve-racking Mamore Gap and defy physics on the 'Magic Road'. A visit to Doagh Famine Village will have you step back in time, hearing how life used to be in the area. Your day culminates in a galaxy far, far away by reaching Malin Head, Ireland's most Northerly point and the filming location of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. The tour is in a fun, relaxed manner, with plenty of jokes, tall tales and the odd song too!

  1. Grianan of Aileach is an ancient stone hillfort perched high above Lough Swilly, offering sweeping panoramic views across Donegal, Derry, and Tyrone. Steeped in myth and history, it was once a royal stronghold of the Kings of Aileach and a powerful symbol of early Gaelic Ireland.

  2. Buncrana is a charming seaside town on the shores of Lough Swilly, known for its scenic walks, sandy beaches, and relaxed atmosphere. 3. Located on the West side of the Inishowen peninsula, the scenic drive to Fort Dunree alone is as breathtaking as the view from the fort. Historically a coastal defence fortification, Fort Dunree is now a military museum with many restored guns as well as exhibitions about the area's birds, marine life and coastal vegetation. (Museum entrance additional cost not included)

  4. Mamore Gap is a steep, narrow road along the Urris Hills. A viewing point at the top offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding countryside. There are holy relics to be found including a holy well devoted to Saint Eigne as well as a ‘Magic Road' or ‘Gravity Hill'.

  7. A visit to Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point, is a real buckret-lister. Go where the larger coaches can't - right to 'Banba's Crown', the northernmost tip. Experience the unique rugged landscape that was the filming location of the recent ‘Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi’.

About Donegal

Donegal is a harbour town at the head of Donegal Bay in north-west Ireland, with a fifteenth-century castle and wild Atlantic coast around it.

Donegal town stands where the River Eske meets Donegal Bay, in the far north-west of Ireland. The Diamond, a triangular market square with an obelisk, is the centre, and Donegal Castle, a fifteenth-century O'Donnell stronghold with a seventeenth-century wing, stands beside the river. Nearby, the ruins of a Franciscan friary recall the Four Masters, who compiled Irish annals in the 1630s.
