About Kingston

Kingston is a limestone city on Lake Ontario where the St Lawrence River begins, with a fort, a historic downtown, a waterfront and the Thousand Islands.

Kingston sits where Lake Ontario drains into the St Lawrence River, at the head of the Thousand Islands, in eastern Ontario. It was briefly the first capital of the united Province of Canada, from 1841 to 1844, and its limestone buildings, including a domed City Hall from the 1840s, give it the nickname Limestone City.
