1. Ascending the southern slope of the volcano, we will cross the lava flow of 1983 and 2002 where we will stop to see up close its destructive effects. We will continue up to an altitude of 2.000 meters, where you can easily visit the Silvestri Craters originated from the eruption of 1892. here you will have the opportunity to walk along the edge of the lower crater, or go to the discovery of the breathtaking panorama that can be enjoyed from the top of the highest crater climbing the slope along an easy path.

2. On the way to Taormina, we will pass by Zafferana Etnea, where we stop at a Honey Farm to witness the organic honey production process and taste the varieties of organic honey and many other products like Extra Vergin Olive Oil, Wine, liquors, Olives, dry tomatoes and much more.

3. Once we arrive in Taormina, you will have some free time for lunch. Afterwards, you will walk around the city center, the beautiful narrow streets, the characteristic little shops and visit the city's main attractions, like the Greek Theater (admission ticket not included), the Cathedral, Belvedere Square etc.

4. Our next stop, 15 minutes far away from Taormina, is Castelmola, a wonderful, characteristic medieval village situated on top of a mountain. Here, you will see the ruins of the castle, the main square with the Cathedral and its wonderful view on Mount Etna. An almost compulsory stop is Turrisi Coffee Shop, where it is possible to taste a special almond wine.

About Catania

Catania, on Sicily's east coast, is a black lava-stone city beneath Mount Etna, with a noisy fish market, Baroque squares and a long seafront.

Catania lies at the foot of Mount Etna, the active volcano whose lava reached the city in 1669, and an earthquake in 1693 flattened it. Rebuilt in the eighteenth century in the Baroque style, it uses black lava stone for walls and paving, set against white limestone. The Piazza del Duomo has an elephant of lava stone carrying an obelisk, the cathedral of Sant'Agata, and a fountain.
