4. The Nine Arch Bridge, also called as the Bridge in the Sky, is a bridge in Sri LankaLocally it is known as ‘Ahas Namaye Palama’ meaning nine skies bridge in Sinhala. The name derives from the visual experience. . It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers. Commissioned under the British in the year 1921, the Nine Arch Bridge stands proudly, a testament to the engineering and architectural brilliance of the early 20th century. Ideally placed between the Ella and Demodara railway station, those choosing to walk along the bridge will be presented with scenes of rolling hills and dense jungle to delight in.

• 5Train ride to remember!

  Another early start up at 0300 and a swift departure at 0400 - went high up into the country and mountains and saw a spectacular waterfall. Short road trip followed and then transferred to a tuktuk to visit the nine arches bridge which in involved a walk along the railway line with spectacular views all round! The train ride was brilliant and would you believe, the train caught fire! Chaos reigned until we were transferred to another train for onward journey to the Tea factory which was very interesting! Our driver for the week has been fantastic picking us up on time and pointing out interesting features along the routes - Thank you.

  We took several tours with BTM and were very happy with the service. Ella was beautiful and our driver Dinesh was helpful and polite throughout. The company were happy to accommodate any personalised tour or transport required and very professional and flexible.

  Very professional driver and experienced guide who knew all the best spots in the Park to see the animals. We got a really close encounter with a leopard.

  It is a long day and an early start but we'll worth it. The train was amazing got to see he drivers cab and talk to the driver about his years on the train. Lunch very nice and our driver the best. The tea plantation was educational wish they had a shop

• 5Great way to see Ella in a day!

  We booked this as we were only in Sri Lanka a short time, and wanted to see Ella. This was a great way to tick off a few of the sights without it taking up more than a day. It was a guided tour but not much information given on each location, but it was still really good. We’d definitely recommend this trip!
