The mural displays the ancestral portraits of the 35 margraves, electors, dukes and kings of the House of Wettin between 1127 and 1904 and it is located on the outer wall of the Stables Courtyard of Dresden Castle.

About Dresden

Dresden, on the Elbe in Saxony, is a baroque city of domes and palaces rebuilt after the Second World War, with art museums and river views.

Dresden grew rich under the Saxon electors, notably Augustus the Strong, who filled the city with baroque palaces and collections. The Frauenkirche, whose great stone dome dominates the skyline, was destroyed in the bombing of February 1945 and rebuilt, reopening in 2005. The Zwinger, a baroque palace of pavilions and courtyards, and the Semper Opera House stand close together in the old town.
