Celebrate Día de Muertos through an authentic cultural journey co-hosted by Luna Tours & Hiking and Planeta Cacao, available exclusively from October 28 to November 7. This small-group experience offers a deep, genuine connection to one of Mexico’s most sacred traditions. At Planeta Cacao, you will help build a traditional ofrenda by placing a photo of your loved ones among marigolds and candles. You’ll explore the spiritual connection of native cacao through artisanal tastings, followed by a seasonal meal of homemade tamales, warm champurrado, pan de muerto, and agua de jamaica. Capture memories in our festive setup with a complimentary Catrina headband or Catrín hat. To conclude, your certified guide will lead a respectful walk through local cemeteries to witness how families honor their ancestors firsthand.
We pick you up at strategically located meeting points across the bay, tailored to your location. Enjoy a comfortable ride to Planeta Cacao while your certified guide introduces the rich history and traditions of Día de Muertos.
Step into the magical atmosphere of Planeta Cacao and take an active part in living Mexican heritage. Together, we will assemble a traditional multi-tiered altar (ofrenda). You are invited to place photos of your loved ones, light candles, and lay marigold flowers (cempasúchil) as we learn the meaning behind each sacred tier and element.
Discover the deep historical and spiritual relationship between cacao, ancestral rituals, and Día de Muertos. Our hosts at Planeta Cacao will share why cacao was considered a sacred link between the living and the spirit world.
Gather at the table to savor seasonal, home-style Mexican dishes traditionally enjoyed during this holiday. Savor hot tamales, traditional champurrado (cacao-based warm drink), refreshing agua de jamaica (hibiscus tea), and sweet pan de muerto.
Take time to capture memorable photos in our specially decorated Día de Muertos setup. Every guest receives a complimentary festive accessory—a handcrafted Catrina flower headband or a Catrín top hat—to wear during the tour and take home.
Head to a local neighborhood cemetery to experience firsthand how Mexican families gather to honor their ancestors.
Relax on your comfortable return ride as we drop you off back at your original meeting point.
