Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

5See St Augustine with food and wine.
Our tour guide, Bob, met us at the Governor's House. We got all of the requirements accomplished, got some history of the building and we were off. Great food, wine and history are a great combination. A super enjoyable way to spend the day!
5Highly Recommend
Great food and Judi was a great guide. Made a few extra stops. Very knowledgeable of the history of St. Augustine.

5Fabulous Girls Day with Judi (with an I) in Saint Augustine!!!
Judi (with an I) was our guide in Saint Augustine this week for a Corks & Forks tour. The tour was fabulous, but Judi was truly what made our adventure special.... her knowledge, personality and experience along with the great venues she arranged for us and the special stops along the way made our day one that we'll remember for years to come. I've lived near Saint Augustine for ten years and was unaware of some of the interesting, fun spots that she found for us. Thanks again Judi! We'll definitely recommend you to all of our friends and neighbors!
5Fantastic food and drink experience.
Wonderful experience learning a bit of St. Augustine history while sampling different foods from local restaurants. Come hungry as the tour fills you up! Rene was a fantastic guide and took us to taste wine and food at some places we wouldn’t have otherwise found. We enjoyed the entire experience.
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute Perfection! Delicious Bites, Incredible Wine, and a First-Class Guide!
Our recent walking food and wine tour in St. Augustine was easily the highlight of our trip! If you are looking to skip the generic tourist traps and truly taste the vibrant, culinary heart of the historic district, this tour is an absolute must-do. From start to finish, the entire experience was flawlessly paced. We strolled through beautiful, brick-lined downtown alleys, stopping at a curated mix of handpicked local venues. Every single stop felt special. Instead of tiny samples, we were treated to incredibly generous, chef-driven pairings—everything from savory, authentic regional appetizers to exquisite desserts, each perfectly matched with fantastic wines. It easily replaced a full meal (and then some!), making it well worth every penny. What truly elevated this experience from a great food tour to an unforgettable one, however, was our phenomenal guide, Kirsten. Her passion for St. Augustine’s rich history and modern culinary scene was utterly infectious. She was highly knowledgeable, engaging, and had a brilliant sense of humor. Between stops, she shared fascinating historical narratives about how different global cultures shaped the flavors of the nation's oldest city, seamlessly weaving storytelling with our walking route. The partnerships they have with local chefs and shop owners mean you get VIP treatment the moment you walk through the door. We left not only completely full and happy, but with a deeper appreciation for the city and a list of new local gems to revisit. Do yourself a favor and book this tour—and ask for Kirsten our exceptional guide!
St Augustine is a Florida town on the Atlantic coast, founded by the Spanish in 1565, with a coquina fort, narrow streets and Victorian-era hotels.
St Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565 and is the oldest continuously occupied European-founded settlement in the continental United States. The Castillo de San Marcos, a fort of pale coquina shell stone built by the Spanish between 1672 and 1695, guards the waterfront. The Spanish Quarter, pedestrian St George Street and the cathedral basilica sit within a few blocks, and the Bridge of Lions crosses to Anastasia Island.
Top-ranked sights in St Augustine: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, Mission Nombre de Dios, Fountain of Youth.
