  • 5Unforgettable Cape Coast Historical Tour

My Wife and I had an unforgettable experience immersing ourselves in the rich history and natural beauty of Ghana with Best of Africa Travels. Our journey through Cape Coast was deeply moving walking through the haunting halls of Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle gave us a profound connection to the past. Balancing that solemnity, we embraced adventure at Kakum National Park, where the canopy walkway offered breathtaking views of beautiful rainforest. This tour was more than sightseeing; it was a powerful blend of history, culture, and nature that left us inspired and grateful. Enoch and Hamza came to pick us early at our hotel, they are very knowledgeable gave us a lot of history about Ghana in general and took care of us during the whole tour. i highly recommend Enoch and his team at Best of Africa Travels for all your Ghana experience.

  • 5Excellent tour and experience

You should know that due to construction, the road to Cape Coast is just terrible and it takes about 4 hours to get there. Enoch and Hamza were excellent guides and told us about the road conditions ahead of time so we were prepared. Hamza did a great job driving and handling the bumpy road. Enoch and Hamza were very knowledgeable and gave us a great history of Ghana and pointed out areas of interest along the way. Be advised that the hike to the canopy at the park is very steep. Enoch and Hamza were very kind and patient and helped me make the climb. The tours at the castles were very informative and sobering. If you want to learn more about the slave trade and the inhumane treatment of Africans, then this is the tour for you. I highly recommend it. It's a long day so bring snacks.

  • 5Must do trip!

We are very pleased that we took this tour, such a powerful and sobering trip. If travelling from Accra, it is a long drive but it is completely worth it. The journey also gave us the opportunity to experience more of the real Ghana along the way. Enoch expertly guided us through out the day and shared many interesting insights to the history and modern day Ghana. Fully recommend!

  • 4Castles used in slave trade.

The castles was great. I have a much better understanding of the horrors of the slave trade. We didn’t make it to the canopy since we ran out of time due to traffic. Both guide and driver were great. The biggest negative is it is a long drive on mostly unpaved roads. Be prepared to be in the car 5 hours each way.

  • 5Tour of castles

We visited two different castles that were used by Europeans to ship humans to become slaves. Well worth visiting to visualize the horror these men and women suffered. The guide and driver were both great. One important issue to note is it is a long drive from Accra ( roughly 5 hours each way) over bumpy and often unpaved roads.

About Accra

Accra, Ghana's capital on the Gulf of Guinea, mixes colonial forts, independence monuments, busy markets, beach bars and a famed music scene.

Accra lines the Atlantic coast, and its older districts keep the character of a trading port. In Jamestown, an old fishing quarter, a lighthouse stands beside Dutch and British forts, and boxing gyms spill onto the lanes. Black Star Square, with its Independence Arch, and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park honour Ghana's first president and independence in 1957, while the W. E. B. Du Bois Centre remembers the writer who spent his final years here.

Top-ranked sights in Accra: Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Memorial Park, W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture, Makola Market.
