A timeless icon of Berlin, the TV-tower was the second tallest in the world at IT's opening in 1969.
The tower of Berlin's c IT y hall doesn't just show Italian influences, it's height rather was a provocation to the royals residing just around the corner.
This collection of museums belongs to the Champions Leaugue of World Heritage - and stunningly beautiful. After riding through the small yet big, crowded yet empty streets, you understand, why IT is also called the Athens of the Spree.
Looks like IT was built in the 1600's, but only about 60 years older than the post modern TV-Tower - welcome to Berlin.
First palace of the king, then palace for the "democracy" of the GDR and now a bundle of museums in a building looking much older than IT is.
A stunning panorama! Berlin's oldest university, the old opera, a catholic cathedral, a hotel which serves once as a bank, a guard's house looking like a temple etc - simply the classic centre! And not to forget: the place where the Nazis showed their evil nature by burning thousands of books in front of the public.
Having to endure four reconstructions, this opera is still most famously known for being the first in the world open to the common folk.

Currently being extensively refurbished, this square with it's two almost identical churches and the concert house in the middle is often labelled as Berlin's most beautiful.
