Misti volcano is one of the most famous volcano in Peru. Its shape is pyramidal, it has two craters and it means a lot to the locals, since it has been considered the protector of the city since the time of the Incas. The Incas had great respect for him and left offerings and human sacrifices, some of which have been found in the small crater. About Arequipa
Arequipa, in southern Peru, is a white-stone colonial city beneath the cone of El Misti volcano, close to the deep Colca Canyon.
Arequipa lies at about 2,300 metres in the dry southern Andes, with the cone of El Misti volcano rising above it and Chachani and Pichu Pichu on either side. Its centre is built from sillar, a light volcanic stone that has earned it the name of the White City. The Plaza de Armas has arcades, palms and the cathedral, whose façade stretches the full length of one side.
