Climb up in the saddle of a real Texas Longhorn Steer for a photo or take your chances and ride the Mechanical Bull, just waiting to buck you off!

5. Tour the historic Cowtown Coliseum, home of the weekly Stockyards Championship Rodeo and site of the world’s first indoor Rodeo. Many famous folks have visited here, including General Pershing, Enrico Caruso, Doris Day, Bob Hope, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, President Carter and President Roosevelt.

7. Step inside the White Elephant Saloon, site of Fort Worth's infamous gunfight in 1887. Originally located in dangerous Hells Half Acre, the White Elephant moved to the Historic Stockyards. The the interior was used in the filming of Walker Texas Ranger.

Fort Worth is a Texas cow town that grew into a city of cowboy culture, a live stockyards district and a remarkable group of art museums.

Fort Worth sits on the Trinity River in north Texas, where the plains meet the woodland of the cross timbers, and earned the nickname Cowtown as a stop for cattle drives heading north along the Chisholm Trail. In the Stockyards National Historic District, wooden storefronts and saloons line brick streets, and Texas longhorns are driven down the street in a staged cattle drive. The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, held each winter since 1896, is one of the oldest in the country.
