The San Lorenzo Market: This is the beating heart of the district and comprises two main parts: The Outdoor Leather Market: Surrounding the Mercato Centrale building, countless stalls line the streets, primarily selling a vast array of leather goods – jackets, handbags, belts, and wallets. You'll also find souvenirs, scarves, and other typical Florentine crafts here. It's a lively atmosphere where vendors call out to passersby, and a bit of friendly bargaining is part of the fun. The Mercato Centrale (Central Market - Indoor Food Market): Housed in a magnificent 19th-century iron and glass building, this market is a paradise for food lovers.
Florence Baptistery (Battistero di San Giovanni): Directly in front of the cathedral, the octagonal Baptistery is one of Florence's oldest buildings, with roots tracing back to Roman times. It's famous for its three sets of magnificent bronze doors, particularly the gilded eastern doors by Lorenzo Ghiberti, dubbed the "Gates of Paradise" by Michelangelo, for their stunning artistry and revolutionary use of perspective in depicting Old Testament scenes. The interior boasts a breathtaking Byzantine mosaic ceiling.
The Ponte Vecchio, meaning "Old Bridge," is arguably the most iconic and distinct bridge in Florence, and indeed, one of the most famous bridges in the world. It's much more than just a crossing over the Arno River; it's a living piece of history, architecture, and commerce.

About Florence
Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, gathers masterpieces of art and architecture into a compact city of stone streets beside the Arno.
The Duomo, with Brunelleschi's great red-brick dome, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery's gilded doors, marks the centre of town. A few streets away, Piazza della Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchio face a loggia full of sculpture, and the Uffizi Gallery holds Botticelli, Leonardo and Raphael. Michelangelo's David stands in the Galleria dell'Accademia.
Top-ranked sights in Florence: Piazza della Signoria, Uffizi Galleries (Gallerie degli Uffizi), Florence Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore).
