格陵蘭玩樂指南

Greenland is the world's largest island, a self-governing Arctic territory of ice sheet, fjords, icebergs and small coloured towns.

Most of Greenland lies under a vast ice sheet, and its people live in small towns along the ice-free coast. Nuuk, the capital on the south-west coast, has colourful houses beneath the peak of Sermitsiaq, a national museum with mummies from the fifteenth century and a Lutheran cathedral. Inuit culture, kayaks, dog sleds and the Greenlandic language are part of everyday life.

Ilulissat is the main base for the Icefjord, a UNESCO site where one of the most active glaciers in the world calves icebergs that drift into Disko Bay, with whales in summer. Qaqortoq in the south has sculptures carved into rock, and nearby ruins mark the Norse settlers who arrived with Erik the Red in the late tenth century.

Halibut, Arctic char, musk ox and reindeer feature on the table alongside seal and whale traditions, and coffee gatherings called kaffemik are a social custom. Summer brings the midnight sun in the north, and the northern lights show from late August to April; dog-sledding runs in the snowy months.
