8. Ahsan Manzil is also known as the Pink Palace. This was the official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. The building is situated at Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Construction was started in 1859 and was completed in 1872. It was constructed in the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture. It has been designated as a national museum. *** Note: Ahsan Manjil (Pink Palace) will remain close on Thursday. We will skip this attraction if you plan to visit Dhaka on Thursday.

Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh on the Buriganga River, is a dense, restless city of Mughal-era monuments, rickshaws and a busy river port.

Dhaka grew from a Mughal provincial capital on the Buriganga River into one of the most densely populated cities on earth. Old Dhaka holds most of the history: Lalbagh Fort, begun in 1678 and never finished, the pink Ahsan Manzil palace beside the river, and the Star Mosque with its mosaic of china tiles. The narrow lanes around them are filled with workshops and traders.
