7. Piazza Navona is one of the most famous monumental squares in Rome, built in monumental style by the Pamphili family, with the typical shape of an ancient stadium. Piazza Navona, at the time of ancient Rome, was the Stadium of Domitian which was built by the emperor Domitian in 85 and in the 3rd century it was restored by Alexander Severus. It was 265 meters long, 106 meters wide and could accommodate 30,000 spectators.

8. Until the fifteenth century the square did not exist as such, and in its place there was a flowery meadow with some cultivated vegetable gardens, hence the name. According to an unreliable tradition, the square should instead be named after Flora (a woman loved by Pompey, who had built her theater near her).
