  2. We will cross one of the many tiny bridges used by pedestrians and motorbikes only. It gives you an outerspace feeling to cross such a bridge and you have great views over the layout of a city. As you can't stop on the bridge, we will choose the right moment to cross it.

  3. Ijen Boulevard is one of Malang's most impressive streets; a wide lane with flower beds in the middle and bottle green swaying palms on the sides. The boulevard and the neighborhoods surrounding it, were constructed in the 1930s and designed by the famous Dutch architect Karsten. The neighborhood was designed not to be based on the origin of the people, but on their income.

About Malang

Malang, in the highlands of East Java, is a cool hill city of Dutch-era streets, colourful hillside villages and volcanoes close by.

Malang lies about 450 metres up on a plateau in East Java, cooler than the coast, ringed by mountains including Mount Arjuno and the Tengger massif. The Dutch developed it as a garden city, and the centre keeps tree-lined avenues and old colonial buildings around the Tugu monument and the Alun-Alun Merdeka square. Two painted kampungs, Jodipan and Tridi, climb a hillside along the river.

Top-ranked sights in Malang: Mt. Semeru.
