Rafting through Durango is just as popular with the locals as it is the visitors. It’s the perfect mix of excitement for all ages, with the added charm of floating through an impossibly picturesque town. You’ll catch plenty of splashes while getting to sit back and relax on this free-flowing Rocky Mountain river. Half Day rafting trips on the Lower Animas are incredibly popular for busy schedules. You'll get a couple hours on the water with the best rapid sections. Plus, our guides are well-trained and absolutely love what they do. You’ll get a hoot out of them as much as they get a hoot out of running this river.

5Unforgettable
The entire trip was excellent from beginning to end. Our guide Dylan was awesome! Exceeded my expectations.
5Five stars isn’t enough! So much fun!
Five stars isn’t enough, I rate Eli a 6! First timers booking a white water rafting trip! We had an amazing experience with Eli being our guide. He was the perfect mix of professional, calm, and hilarious. Even when the rapids picked up, he was completely cool and collected, which made our whole raft feel confident. He gave super clear, easy-to-follow directions, educated us on the river and what to expect, and kept us laughing the entire time. You can tell he really knows what he's doing and loves what he does. More than just a great guide, Eli was awesome to hang out with down the river. Made the whole trip feel effortless and so much fun. If you can request Eli - do it. 10/10, we will definitely raft with him again!
5Family friendly rafting trip!
The guides were very knowledgeable about the river and the surroundings. They were fun and accommodating. I felt safe the entire trip. My family (ages 6-18) and I enjoyed our time with them and would definitely do it again!
5Durango can be seen from...
Durango can be seen from the river. We were impressed that the City built a white water rafting area in the river. The guides were polite and informative.
5Great float down the river
Great trip even though water was low. Our guide from Alabama was excellent navigating the challenging low water and boulders. Pretty scenery through Durango. Spotted blue heron. Large buck. Lots of ducks and geese. All staff are fun to hang out with.
5Exceeded our expectations!!
Completely exceeded our expectations! Truly the nicest folks all around. My daughter felt unwell just as we were about to depart and they rebooked us no questions asked. So accommodating, so kind. A special shoutout to our guide Dylan who’s awesome at what he does! And a special thank you to Sadie, a fellow raft guide who helped my daughter overcome nerves and swim in one of the swimming spots we stopped at. We were really touched by how not only competent, but patient and kind everyone was. Thanks for the memories!
Durango is a Wild West railroad town in south-west Colorado, on the Animas River, known for its steam train, the San Juan Mountains and nearby Mesa Verde.
Durango was founded in 1880 as a railroad town for the silver mines of the San Juan Mountains, and its Main Avenue still has Victorian brick buildings, saloons and hotels from that time. A coal-fired narrow-gauge steam train, running since 1882, chugs up the Animas River canyon to the mining town of Silverton, through scenery of high peaks and gorges.
Top-ranked sights in Durango: Animas River, Historic Downtown Durango.
