You’ll see several stalls selling handicrafts on the island located at the roadside, this area offers visitors the possibility of seeing something not unusual on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. It is an area dominated by large solid rocks that the strong beating of the waves has been shaping over time. It is not a cliff as such, because it is a coastal strip dotted with small beaches and coves combined with rocks projecting to the sea that are not more than 5-10 meters, but by the force with which the waves ram, it well seems. Located in the heart of the Cozumel National Reef Park, this area subjected to the force of wind and water, shows as characteristic formation two curious natural holes or 'eyes' in two of the rocks against which the white waves of the Caribbean break strongly

4. Chen Rio is the secret place of the inhabitants of Cozumel that has natural pools of warm and crystal clear water. Thousands of tourists do not arrive here, just a few who dare to explore this almost unknown area of the island. People in Mexico’s tourist areas often keep secret about their favorite places to go for walks. This is the case of Chen Rio, a beach located east of Cozumel Island where small natural pools of warm and crystal clear water are formed. These pools exist because along the beach there is a line of dwarf rocks that allow the waves to enter but at the same time the water to exit slowly.

About Cozumel

Cozumel is a flat, reef-ringed island off Mexico's Yucatán coast, famed for diving, Maya ruins and calm turquoise water on its sheltered west side.

Cozumel lies about twenty kilometres off the Yucatán coast, a short ferry ride from Playa del Carmen. The main town, San Miguel, faces the mainland with a waterfront promenade, a plaza and small museums, while most of the island is flat jungle and quiet coast. The western side, where the sea is calm, holds the beach clubs and snorkelling spots, and the wild windward east coast has rough surf and empty sand.
