하이라이트
Take a self-guided 1.5km walk through Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, following the Van Gogh Trail to the Monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole. This one-hour journey traces the landscapes that inspired Van Gogh during his stay in 1889–1890. Start in the town center with his self-portraits, then follow "Vincent" signs through cobbled streets and leafy plane trees. Along the way, view 19–21 large-scale reproductions of his paintings, placed where he created them, with panels featuring titles and excerpts from his letters. About Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a market town at the foot of the Alpilles hills, where Van Gogh painted and a Roman town lies among the olive groves.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence lies at the foot of the Alpilles, a low range of white limestone in the heart of Provence, and plane-tree boulevards circle its old centre. Vincent van Gogh spent a year at the asylum of the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole monastery in 1889 and 1890, painting wheat fields, cypresses, olive trees and The Starry Night, and its cloister can still be visited. Nostradamus was born in the town in 1503.
