As the weather turns to fall the Elk come down from the Mountain tops and into the town of Estes Park where they compete for dominance, known as the annual Elk Rut! Tour the area in our open Jeeps for incredible opportunities to see the wildside of wildlife in the Rockies.

Elk are known to come down the mountain and into the town of Estes Park during the Rut season. Nonetheless, Elk are still quite fond of the RMNP area and we will likely have a good chance of seeing them there as well as in other areas around town.

About Estes Park

Estes Park is a mountain town at the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, known for elk, alpine lakes and a historic hotel.

Estes Park lies at about 2,300 metres in a valley of the Colorado Rockies, along the Big Thompson River and beside Lake Estes. It is the main eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The town centre has timber-fronted shops, a riverwalk and the Stanley Hotel, a white Colonial Revival hotel on a hill that opened in 1909 and inspired Stephen King's novel The Shining.
