This shore excursion combines our classic All-in-One Best of Berlin trip with a brief visit to the largest concentration camp near Berlin: Sachsenhausen. We will pick you up directly at your cruise ship docking in Warnemünde or Rostock, and bring you to Berlin in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. In Berlin you will meet your professional tour guide who will show you the highlights of the city and then take you to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial for a brief visit. Please be aware, the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial is roughly a one hour drive from Berlin, so there is more time spent on the bus on this tour than our regular Berlin shore excursion. All of our experiences are adjusted to each ship’s docking times and start promptly after your vessel’s arrival, returning with plenty of time to spare before departure. We have been organizing shore excursions for nearly a decade and have never missed a ship’s departure.

Witness the horrors of Nazism at the memorial site of the largest concentration camp in the vicinity of Berlin, where over 10,000 inmates perished as a result of starvation, disease, and systematic murder perpetrated by the SS. Pass through the camp gates beneath the chilling words ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ (‘work will set you free’), and explore the Jewish Barracks, the Kitchen and Laundry block, the Appelplatz roll call area, the camp prison, the pathology and hospital buildings and Station Z – the execution grounds and killing centre.

About Rostock

Rostock is an old Hanseatic port on Germany's Baltic coast, with brick Gothic churches, a historic university and the beach resort of Warnemünde.

Rostock grew rich as a Hanseatic trading port on the Warnow river, and its university, founded in 1419, is among the oldest in northern Europe. The brick Gothic Marienkirche holds an astronomical clock from 1472 that still keeps time. The Neuer Markt is dominated by the town hall, whose seven slender turrets rise above a baroque front, and the Kröpeliner Tor is a medieval gate at the end of the pedestrian street.
