Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort or the "Ramparts of Galle", withstood the Boxing Day tsunami which damaged part of coastal area Galle town. It has since been restored

About Negombo
Negombo is a laid-back fishing town on Sri Lanka's west coast near the main airport, with a palm-fringed beach, a lagoon and Dutch-era canals.
Negombo's long beach is lined with guesthouses, cafés and seafood restaurants, and outrigger canoes and fishing boats pull up on the sand each morning. The fish market, one of the busiest on the island, spreads its catch out to dry in the sun along the shore, a vivid scene of traders and gulls.
