It is a 'C'-shaped six-lane concrete road along the coast, which is a natural bay. The road links Nariman Point to Babulnath and Malabar Hill. Marine Drive is situated on reclaimed land facing west-south-west. A promenade lies parallel to this road. Marine Drive is also known as the Queen's Necklace because, when viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble a string of pearls in a necklace.

7. The Town Hall that houses the Asiatic Society of Bombay was not built in 1804, the year in which the Literary Society of Bombay was formed. Though Sir James Mackintosh mooted the proposal for a grand edifice, it was not completed until the year 1833 after many fits and starts, when the Government of Bombay agreed to make up for the shortfall in funds in return for office-space. The after-effects of this compromise can still be seen in the unseemly crowds gathered at the Stamp Office and other government departments in the Town Hall.

• 5Mumbai by night.

  Great evening tour with excellent driver Satyam and knowledgeable and friendly guide Max. We were fortunate to make the trip on Independence Day eve so the illuminations were spectacular. Recommended !

• 5Private Night Tour of Mumbai

  Booked a last minute night tour via Linda Tourism, we had the pleasure of having Arjun and Max guide us through some amazing sights such as the Hanging Gardens, Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and Victorian Terminus. Max was very knowledgeable on the the history of Mumbai and great at answering any questions we had regarding Mumbai and India. Highly recommend. ☺️

• 5Amazing!!

  Max and Arjun were absolutely amazing. They drove us around and shared a lot of knowledge along the way wth us. Arjun was always at hand with the car and Max showed us some beautiful sites along the way and had shared so much knowledge and information. They both made us so comfortable and Max took some amazing photos of us along the way. Seriously could not recommend them highly enough
