5Perfect for those who want to walk to the glacier, approximately 1 mile each way.
So glad that I booked this trip myself as opposed to going thru the cruise ship. My two friends had booked the same tour thru the ship, and had very little time at the glacier site. I had two hours to walk to the glacier, the waterfalls and explore the trails along the river. Perfect!
5Trolley to Mendenhall Glacier
Absolutely one of the best experiences ever seeing the glacier and our trolley driver was amazing. He kept us engaged and told us all about the area! I think his name was Troy.
5Shoes will be muddy
Comfortable trolley ride to the glacier with ample time to complete a hike to Nugget Falls (approximately 22 minutes each way). Visitor center is a must—the view is amazing and informative. The ladies room only has 3 stalls so use the trailer outside.
1Think twice before booking this outside your cruise offerings.
Mendenhall Glaciers absolutely worth a look however I do not recommend booking this tour. Absolutely book through your cruise company for this one. We were late getting into port due to weather and getting off the ship took longer than usual and we missed our tour time. Viator and this third party company Juneau Tours blaming the other for the reason that a refund can’t be issued saying the other isn’t authorizing it there fore there isn’t anything that they could do unfortunately. Will definitely be more careful and in certain ports by not using these services and booking directly via my ship excursions offerings.
4Must do
Nice trolley ride 30- 40 minutes to mendanhall Driver provides excellent information along the way. You are on your own at the park , plenty of time to walk to the falls 1 Mile, see mendanhall at different points.
5Best Glacier Tour
Great experience! Up close and personal with the glacier. Mary, our guide and driver is fabulous! Overall price is reasonable.

About Juneau
Juneau is Alaska's capital, a small harbour city beneath steep forested mountains, reachable only by air or sea and close to glaciers.
Juneau sits on the Gastineau Channel in the Alaska Panhandle, squeezed between the water and the steep slopes of Mount Juneau and Mount Roberts, with the Juneau Icefield behind. No road connects it to the rest of North America. The city grew after gold was found in 1880, and the Alaska State Capitol, a columned building of the 1930s, the octagonal Russian Orthodox church of St Nicholas and the old downtown streets recall that past.
Top-ranked sights in Juneau: Mt. Roberts Tramway (Goldbelt Tram), Mendenhall Glacier, Nugget Falls.
