Your journey then takes us inland to the dramatic ruins of Corfe Castle. Rising majestically above the Purbeck Hills, this thousand-year-old fortress is steeped in history and echoes of the English Civil War. Here, you’ll discover the unique Pulpit Rock, a man-made rock formation from the 1870s, shaped like an open Bible leaning against a pillar. Set dramatically beside the sea, it sits just moments from the iconic Portland Bill Lighthouse—the perfect spot to take in the views before we begin your return journey.

About Weymouth

Weymouth is a Georgian seaside resort in Dorset, with a curving sandy bay, a working harbour and the Jurassic Coast on its doorstep.

George III holidayed at Weymouth from the 1780s, and the seafront still has Georgian terraces behind a wide esplanade, with a statue of the king and a Victorian jubilee clock. A broad sandy beach curves round Weymouth Bay, and the inner harbour, full of fishing boats and yachts, is lined with pubs and old warehouses. Nothe Fort, a Victorian fort on the headland, looks over the harbour mouth.
