Toorji’s Step Well – was built in the 1740s by Maharaja Abhaya Singh’s Queen. Submerged for nearly a century, its recent drainage, clean-up and restoration has uncovered over two hundred feet of hand carved treasure in Jodhpur’s famous Rose-Red Sand-Stone; intricate carvings of dancing elephants, medieval lion and cow water-spouts, and niches housing deities long gone. Your stay in Jodhpur would be incomplete without a visit to this wondrous monument.
Ghanta Ghar Jodhpur is the key to unorthodox method by which it has been built. With clock towers, the design will usually be gothic in its genre. In any case, during the building's attempt by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the second half of the 1890s, the Ghanta Ghar received an Indian perspective very fast, which can be seen in any case today. About Jodhpur
Jodhpur, the Blue City of Rajasthan, spreads beneath the great Mehrangarh Fort at the edge of the Thar Desert, its old houses washed in blue.
Rao Jodha founded Jodhpur in 1459, and the huge Mehrangarh Fort still stands on a rocky ridge above the old city, its walls and palaces holding museums of arms, palanquins and painted rooms. Below, thousands of cube-shaped houses are washed in blue, a colour said to have started with the Brahmin families who lived there. White marble Jaswant Thada, a memorial to a maharaja, lies close to the fort.
