Iron Gate Estate is a boutique, award-winning winery in Pokolbin. Their home vineyard plantings include well-known Hunter white varieties of Semillon, Chardonnay and Verdelho, as well as Shiraz, Cabernet ,Tempranillo and Albarino.
Go behind the scenes and get a glimpse into how this winery produces their wines, then get to taste them in a guided tasting.

A small, family owned distillery creating innovative gins with Australian native plants. Plus they make an amazing limoncello! Tasting and country hospitality at its best!

5Great fun and awesome...
Great fun and awesome wines, beautiful landscapes. Gin was a pleasant surprise, cheese and chocolate pairings were great, sobels experience was the most fun and awesome wines
5Great day in the Vineyard!
Great day at the vineyards! Lots of fun, great introduction to Australian wines and gins. Small group, so it was cozy not a “tour group.” Driver was great. And we saw kangaroos!!
5Very good wine tour
Great guide and plenty of time at each winery. Good selection, I especially liked the Iron Gate Estate which looked beautiful and had some great wines at reasonable prices to buy. I had dinner booked in the Hunter and it was no issue for the business to allow me to hop off before the journey back, which was appreciated. Tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable, and each winery host lit up when thtey saw him coming.

Absolutely recommend this experience. Michael, our driver and guide for the day, was exceptional in his friendliness and local knowledge. A small number of participants meant extra attention from the various wine producers visited, and the range of local wines sampled, along with the pairings with cheese and chocolate at the final visit of the day, was superb. Transport for the day was in a modern, spacious, air conditioned minibus. If you have limited time in Sydney then this is certainly one tour you should take advantage of.
5Had the best time...
Had the best time exploring Hunter Valley and the different wineries that were included in the itinerary. Each place kept getting better. Our driver, Fernando, kept us comfortable and entertained. He even pulled over after our last stop to see kangaroos that were in the vineyards! A very cool experience and would definitely recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic day out. Hunter valley is an incredibly beautiful part of Australia. All the stops offered new scenery and a variety of wines to taste which was nice. Our driver Fernando was amazing. He made sure the whole day was on schedule and that we all enjoyed each cellar door to the fullest. Highly recommend booking this tour if you want a fun day outside of Sydney.

About Hunter Valley
The Hunter Valley is a New South Wales wine region of vineyards, horse studs and low ranges, a couple of hours' drive north of Sydney.
The valley follows the Hunter River inland from Newcastle, with the main wine district around Pokolbin and the town of Cessnock at its gateway. Vines have grown here since the 1820s, which makes it one of Australia's oldest wine regions, and semillon whites and shiraz reds are its best-known bottles. Many cellar doors sit among gum trees and lawns, with long views across the rows.
