Nara Park is an open public park known for its hundreds of free-roaming deer and beautiful natural landscape, making it an ideal place for cherry blossom viewing and walking.
Visit Kofuku-ji Temple, a short walk south from Nara Park, and admire its five-story pagoda and art collection.
Continue east from Kofuku-ji and walk to Todai-ji Temple to see the world-famous Giant Buddha statue and the magnificent Great Buddha Hall.
One of the most important shrines in Nara, it was founded in 768 AD and is dedicated to Kasuga Okami (including Takemaki Tsuchi-no-Mikoto). It is famous for its magnificent vermilion architecture and rows of stone lanterns, which are particularly beautiful in spring and autumn when the shrine's lanterns are lit.
