4. Hawa Mahal or the “Place of Winds” was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. The Palace has 953 small windows called jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework. The Jharokha’s were designed to allow royal ladies to observe festivals on the streets without being seen. In Night The Hawa Mahal is closed but The Palace of winds with its 953 small windows offers ample opportunities to click excellent pictures of the gorgeous building from the outside.

About Jaipur

Jaipur, the Pink City of Rajasthan, is a royal capital of forts, palaces and bazaars set against the rugged Aravalli hills.

The old city's walls enclose a grid of streets painted terracotta pink, laid out in the eighteenth century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.
