1. Our first stop is at the archaeological site of Akrotiri, one of the most significant prehistoric settlements of the Aegean Sea where archaeologists continue excavating. The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption sometime in the 17th century BC and buried in volcanic ash which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks.

3. We continue our visit at the monastery of Prophet Elias built in 1711, at the summit of the mountain that stands about 600 meters above sea level. Enjoy the superb views of the island and the caldera and have some free time for photo shooting.

4. Last stop will be at Pyrgos, a traditional village with the white- washed houses and the narrow paths that are built like a labyrinth around the old castle and make Pyrgos a village that definitely deserves the visitor’s attention.

About Santorini

Santorini is a crescent of volcanic cliffs in the Aegean, where whitewashed villages and blue domes look over a flooded caldera to famous sunsets.

The island is the rim of an ancient volcano whose eruption left a vast caldera filled by the sea. On its edge, Fira, the main town, and the clifftop villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani cling to the slopes, while Oia, at the northern tip, is celebrated for its sunset views over windmills and whitewashed houses.
