About Davos
Davos is a high Alpine resort town in eastern Switzerland, known for skiing, mountain trails and its annual January economic forum.
Davos sits at about 1,560 metres in a wide valley in the Graubünden Alps, and is often described as the highest city in Europe. It began as a health resort for people with lung disease, and the town's sanatoria inspired Thomas Mann's novel The Magic Mountain. The expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner lived in the area, and his work is shown in a museum in town.
