Chichén Itzá is a representative archaeological site of the ancient Mayan civilization, which is also registered as a World Heritage Site. It is said to have played a central role for more than 200 years in the history of the Mayan civilization that flourished between the 8th and 12th centuries. The Castle (Pyramid of Kukulcán), is impressive! We walked for about two hours among the ruins, but since we walked slowly, it is safe even for small children. It receives more than 2,500,000 visitors each year. Chichén Itzá is divided into Old Chichén and Chichén Itzá.

After visiting the ruins we will go to a restaurant where you can taste delicious local food at a buffet so you can eat until you are satisfied and if you want you can swim in the cenote. About Mérida

Mérida, capital of Yucatán, is a Spanish colonial city of grand boulevards and mansions, a base for Maya ruins, cenotes and flamingo lagoons.

Francisco de Montejo the Younger founded Mérida in 1542 on the site of a Maya town, and stone from its temples went into the cathedral and houses. The Plaza Grande is the heart of the city, with the cathedral of San Ildefonso, the Governor's Palace, whose walls are covered by murals of Maya history, and the Casa de Montejo, with an ornate carved façade. The low colonial houses of the centre gave the city its nickname, the White City.
