The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Puttalam district in the North Western province of the country; between Chilaw and Puttlam – to be more specific - it is situated between the coast and the Chilaw-Puttlam railway line. The uniqueness of Anawilundawa is its immediate proximity to three vastly different ecosystems; the coast, the mangroves and the fresh water tanks making it one of the six RAMSAR Wetlands in Sri Lanka. This unique ecological setting has made it a favorable nesting and breeding ground for hundreds of species of birds.

About Negombo
Negombo is a laid-back fishing town on Sri Lanka's west coast near the main airport, with a palm-fringed beach, a lagoon and Dutch-era canals.
Negombo's long beach is lined with guesthouses, cafés and seafood restaurants, and outrigger canoes and fishing boats pull up on the sand each morning. The fish market, one of the busiest on the island, spreads its catch out to dry in the sun along the shore, a vivid scene of traders and gulls.
