We climb down to the base of the falls for an up-close look and then ascend the other side the round trip will take about 1hour walking. About Bahir Dar

Bahir Dar is a lakeside city in north-west Ethiopia, on the shore of Lake Tana, with palm-lined avenues, island monasteries and the Blue Nile Falls nearby.

Bahir Dar is the capital of the Amhara region, on the southern shore of Lake Tana, Ethiopia's largest lake and the source of the Blue Nile. Broad avenues lined with palms run down to a lakeside promenade where fishermen paddle papyrus-reed boats called tankwa. Bezawit Hill, behind the city, has a palace built for Emperor Haile Selassie and views over the lake.
