• 5Discovery of the lagoon

  So so great ! We wanted to discover the lagoon, have a great time swimming in the blue water. Abraham was our guide and he was perfect. The tour lasted about 3 hours, we saw the famous cenotes, isla de los pájaros and canal de piratas. Fruits and beverages were included (and so good!) Don’t miss this tour ! Thank you again !

  David was very informative and told us everything we needed to know about our options for where to kayak in this area, and areas to avoid.. We felt really safe and had a great adventure kayaking in the lagoon! Can’t wait to come back next summer!

About Bacalar

Bacalar is a quiet lakeside town in Quintana Roo, beside a long freshwater lagoon of shifting blues known as the Lake of Seven Colours.

Bacalar sits on the western shore of a lagoon about forty kilometres long in the south of Quintana Roo, close to the border with Belize. The water, shallow over white sand and deeper in places, shades from pale turquoise to deep blue, giving the lagoon its name, the Lake of Seven Colours. The Fort of San Felipe, built in the eighteenth century to guard the lagoon from pirates, stands above the town square and holds a small museum.
