Located on a hilltop above the confluence of two mighty rivers, Kalemegdan fortress has a rich and violent history. We will visit promenade from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Sava river and Monument of Gratitude to France. Latter on we will visit a monumental Victor statue and a grave of Ottoman vizier Ali-Pasha.
This lovely church was built in 15th century, destroyed in 16th and then rebuilt in 19th so it guards a great part of city history.
Built within an academic neighborhood of Belgrade, this park is loved by students who pass time between lectures here, enjoying the greenery of the very city center.

5Well worth it
Absolutely awesome crash course in the history of how Serbia became its own. I went with Marija and she is very knowledgeable, friendly, and will take great pictures of you if need it (aka solo traveler). I would definitely recommend.
5Interesting walk down memory lane from a Serbian POV
Tour operator (Ivana): super friendly and approachable. Crystal clear communication. Tour guide (Pedja): charming personality and a really nice person. Super knowledgable and made the tour very interesting with his charm. It’s more than just a history lesson as it includes the real lived experiences of individuals. Great to hear a local’s honest point of view on 200+ years of history.
5The best of Belgrade!
Marija gave us a brilliant three hour tour of Belgrade that felt both relaxed and full of insight. She showed us the city’s highlights and painted a vivid picture of its complex history through the buildings and streets around us. The time we spent at the fortress was a real standout as she brought the site to life with detail and stories. Marija’s style was warm and easygoing yet she kept us engaged the whole way through. It was a memorable afternoon and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get to know Belgrade.

This tour not only gives you an overview of the varied parts of old city center, but tells you how it came to be this way. T B, our guide, offered us in depth history of Serbia and its place in the Balkans, as well as the current day situation. A lot to absorb. Excellent tour.
5Excellent historical tour of Belgrade!
I had a one on one history tour with Tibor and it was outstanding. As a political scientist, Tibor had deep knowledge of the history and politics of Belgrade and Serbia. He used the city’s many sites to explain the history and because I was the only guest I had a great opportunity to ask many questions. I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about Belgrade’s key sites and learn about the history of Serbia.

About Belgrade
Belgrade is Serbia's capital at the meeting of the Sava and the Danube, a city of a vast fortress, café-lined boulevards and nightlife on the river.
Belgrade stands where the Sava meets the Danube, and the old Kalemegdan Fortress occupies the ridge above the confluence, with walls, gates and a park that looks over both rivers. Knez Mihailova, the pedestrian main street, runs from the fortress to Republic Square. The Temple of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, has a white marble dome.
